A 70-YEAR-OLD man who died after two motorbikes collided on a Warwickshire road has been named.

John Maris, of Leicester Road, Shilton, near Coventry, was killed on a stretch of the B4029, between Shilton and Brinklow, on Saturday 11^th October 2008, at about 3.15pm.

He was riding a red Moto Guzzi Breva.

The 50-year-old rider of the other bike - a blue Kawasaki ZX - was said yesterday to be in a serious condition in hospital.

A post-mortem examination showed that Mr Maris died of multiple injuries. An inquest has been opened and adjourned.

Motorcyclist in collision named

A motorcyclist who died in a collision involving another motorbike in Warwickshire has been named.

John Maris, 70, died in the incident near Shilton on Saturday afternoon.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Tuesday showed Mr Maris, from Leicester Road, Shilton, died as a result of multiple injuries.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned. A 50-year-old man who was riding the other motorbike remains in a serious condition in hospital.

A man has died after a collision between two motorbikes near Rugby



At around 3.15pm on Saturday a red Moto Guzzi Breva motorbike and a blue Kawasaki ZX motorbike collided on the B4029 between Shilton and Brinklow.

The 70 year old driver of the red motorbike was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the blue motorbike, a 50 year old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire where he is in the critical care unit.

The identity of the man who died will not be released until the formal identification process has been completed and all close relatives informed.

Police investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or saw any of the vehicles before it occurred is asked to call the Warwickshire Police roads policing unit on 01926 415415.
